SoftPerfect WiFi Guard is a network monitoring tool designed to detect intruders in your WiFi network. The application scans your wireless connection and displays all the devices connected to it, showing alerts when an unknown user gets to your network without your permission.
WiFi Guard is a pretty simple tool that requires little configuration. Its interface is clean and all its functions are gathered in a toolbar. To get started, you need to select the network adapter you want the application to monitor. It can be set to run scans at set intervals, and comes with a preset interval of 30 minutes. It's possible to specify an IP range to scan and the number of devices you want the application to detect, with a maximum of 32.
The scan results will show a list of all the devices on your network. Besides the IP address, it will show details like MAC addresses and vendors. A green dot appears next to your authorized devices, including your computer, while unknown or unauthorized users will be marked with a red dot. If one of your computers or devices appears in red, from the Properties dialog you can include it on the list of allowed devices.
In short, WiFi Guard is an easy-to-use a tool that lets you know who is using your WiFi connection. Though it does not let you block users or restrict access to your network in any other way, it can help you decide if you need to change your password or block the addresses from your router.
